Golden Girls

It’s February, and Chicago’s cold feels like it’s cutting straight to the bone, and life outside my window has been just as stormy. Between personal loss, a canceled trip, and a world full of unrest, it’s been a lot to carry.

I share this with you not to bring you down but to show up honestly. Life gets heavy sometimes. Old grief, rage, and frustration have been bubbling up for me, and I imagine some of you might be feeling something similar—whether it’s the winter blues, a personal loss, or just the sheer weight of the world right now.

But here’s what I’ve been leaning on: small pockets of warmth and joy. A good cup of tea with milk and sugar. The laughter of my chosen family. Sitting still for just a moment when everything feels too loud. A classic Golden Girls episode. These things don’t erase the hard stuff, but they remind me that life isn’t just hard.

If you’re navigating your own storm right now, I see you. Let’s take February slow and steady, finding whatever warmth we can. And if you’re lucky enough to be basking in sunshine—literal or metaphorical—save me a spot, okay?

If this resonates with you, hit reply and let me know: What’s one small thing bringing you warmth or joy right now? I’d love to hear what’s lighting your way.

Here’s to finding light, even when it’s cold and dark.
